In October 2022 it was announced that CUF and the shareholders of Hospital Internacional dos Açores (HIA) had reached an agreement for the acquisition of the single private hospital of Açores. The acquisition has been concluded in March 2023.

HIA, located in Lagoa, in the island of São Miguel, was inaugurated in March 2021, counting with more than 20 medical specialties and 90 rooms. The long experience of CUF will contribute to reinforcing the differentiated healthcare offer in the region.
